Inimical Records partners with Moshpit Tragedy!

Because of this, I will be taking down the download links from here. But these titles are still free on that site. Here is the press release:

January 14th, 2010

Moshpit Tragedy Begins Pay-What-You-Want Partnership With Inimical Records

Canada's Moshpit Tragedy Records - the first label to abandon physical releases in favour of a full 'pay-what-you-want' download model - have announced a partnership with Seattle's Inimical Records.

The deal sees 16 titles from Inimical's back catalog available for sliding-scale download in their own section of the MTR website where visitors can download their out of print and vinyl only releases starting at nothing. Releases that are still currently available on CD are available beginning at $3 via paypal and future new releases will also begin at that price and remain there for 3 months before reverting back to a $0-10 sliding scale.

Inimical Records founder Mike Crow comments: "Inimical Records is proud to announce a partnership with Moshpit Tragedy Records to make our catalog available in mp3 format. They have a productive solution to the balancing act of digital distribution in our small corner of the musical world, DIY punk and metal, from the sliding scale to the inclusion of the artwork. I especially appreciate that MTR makes the artwork available in a printable form, so you are receiving a finished product and not an mp3 with no information. Punk and hardcore is so intertwined with politics and ideas, it is a shame to see people just rabidly collecting data without digesting the full product. I am very excited to partner with MTR and hope good things come of it."

Based out of Seattle, Inimical Records was born in the summer of 2003 with the release of SOD HAULER "S/T" EP and from there snowballed with releases from successful punk and metal bands like PREYING HANDS, SKARP, COP ON FIRE, OROKU, BALLAST, JESUS FUCKING CHRIST, SAHN MARU, ALDEBARAN, SOD HAULER, WHOREHOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES, SPRING BREAK, ZOMBIE RITUAL, SPLATTERHOUSE, GRUESOME STUFF RELISH, SLIGHTLY LESS THAN NOTHING and PROCESSION OF VULTURES.

Moshpit Tragedy founder Rayny Forster comments: "I am a big fan of all the music on the Inimical label and so I'm obviously very excited about this collaberation. It also marks our first of what I hope to be many label partnerships - though I must admit I'm picky about what we associate MTR with, Inimical definitely makes that cut."

Fundraising Sale this weekend.

Special only good from 10/16-10/18

Since I really need to pull together some money for the Funerot LP "And then you fucking die man", I will break you a deal, if you order a copy of any of the last three releases (Preying Hands LP/CD, Jesus Fucking Christ "Life's Hateful Seed" LP/CD or Cop on Fire "Discography" CD, all $10 ppd in the US) I will throw in one of my older CDs. So you could get the Preying Hands LP and get the Ballast CD too, or both JFC CDs at once or the Cop on Fire Cd and the Oroku CD, quite a combination. Work with me people! I will run this deal all weekend.

You can purchase them at Inimical Records

When you pay with paypal, just add a note about what you would like to add for free. Here is a list of available CDs to add:

Preying Hands "Through the Dark"
Cop On Fire "Discography"
Jesus Fucking Christ "Life's Hateful Seed"
Ballast "Fuse"
Sahn Maru "Never Too Late"
Oroku "Living Through The End Time"
Jesus Fucking Christ "s/t"
Skarp "Bury Your Dead"
Sod Hauler "s/t"

Or if you are buying something on vinyl, since I already have to use the box, you could add:

Jesus Fucking Christ "Life's Hateful Seed" Video

So this is the video that is included with the CD version (they still haven't invented a way to add video to vinyl...) of Jesus Fucking Christ's 2nd album, Life's Hateful Seed. In fact it is the title track. So if you want to check it out, here it is. It is kind of goofy but fun with nods to some old horror movies as well.

For those who don't know, JFC is Dave Ed from Neurosis, Larry from The Rickets, and JAmie from Pitch Black. They play old school hardcore kind of like Poison Idea or the Accused. Or you can just watch and listen to the video and figure that out.

It also has Marcus da Anarchist, creator of the Pyrate Punx in a guest role as Satan. For a higher resolution version you can order the CD from me at www.inimical.com and the vinyl is still available as well. So that is that, enjoy.

Oroku - The End is Near Video

So someone made this video for Oroku's The End Is Near. I think it is awesome. So I want you all to see it too.

One of these days I will write up my review of the Hunting Parties fest that I did a month ago. Oroku played their final show August 8th.

Funerot "Nova II" LP

IR012 - Released July 17, 2007

Copies: LP: 500(Split release with Selfish Satan Records)
Band Status: Active

This one was a split with Ami Lawless's Selfish Satan Records. They have recorded a new LP called "And Then You Fucking Die, Man" I am told it is kind of a concept record, the concept it the record's title. So there you go, the future.

Now the past. This record was originally going to be a 7" that Ami would release and a split 7" with Splatterhouse that I would release. Funerot called me up to see if I would be into just combining the projects, 12"s do much better than 7"s so of course I would. And Ami is awesome so I was very happy to get to work with her in some regard. So that is how that got put together. But that isn't very exciting. I like telling funny stories.

The story of how we met is one such story. It was at the first Goregon Fest that Jason V put on. There is video of Funerot on YouTube somewhere from that show. Anyway, I was drunk as hell and decided I had already stayed up too long to get a good night's sleep so I would just pull it out and go until the next day. I somehow ended up in Jason and Tim (aldebaran, see previous post)'s hot tub. They had just got back from tour and it hadn't been cleaned in a while and dirty things had happened in it. No matter, I just needed to relax. So in I went. I tried to rally the troops, Spring Break! was not up for it, despite their partying ways, Poser Disposer too. A lot of bands just looked at me with disgust. Funerot were the only one's to step it up and get in the tub. And a bond was formed.

In fact we would get in a pool together later that summer at my mother's house, where my mother wanted nothing more than to just touch Max's hair. A rather awkward experience.

And now back to Nova II. It was mastered by Dan Randall at Mammoth Sound. Reuben did the artwork on this, and all the rest of the Funerot records. This will never see a CD release, due to Funerot's (and now my) anti-CD views. So why don't you have a copy for free. And get stoked for the new record. It rips.

And here are a couple of flyers for shows I did with Funerot, and to let you know why I do a label rather than graphic design.
